We were delighted to receive a wonderful review of the FeedingMaster Pro from Bas Cornielje. As an equine dentist, bit fitter, international competitive rider, and with years of experience and extensive knowledge of equine health, he knows better than anyone what to look out for. We really appreciate him sharing his experiences with the FeedingMaster Pro with us. Thank you very much for this lovely review, Bas!
As an equine dentist, I observe how horses eat, chew and use their teeth on a daily basis. What becomes clear time and again in practice is how important it is for a horse to be able to consume roughage as naturally as possible, spread throughout the day in small quantities, without long periods without food and without experiencing stress whilst eating.
For this reason, I would like to highlight the Feedingmaster Pro from VH Products. I use the system myself and am very satisfied with it.
The system automatically dispenses several small portions of hay, spread throughout the day and night. This aligns well with the horse’s natural eating behaviour. After all, horses are designed to eat almost continuously. This regular feed intake keeps the chewing rhythm stable and stimulates saliva production, which is important for both oral health and digestion.
In my daily work, I see no adverse effects on the teeth in horses fed in this way. Their eating behaviour is calm and steady, without major feeding peaks or gulping.
What also appeals to me is that the system brings a sense of calm to feed management. The horse receives roughage at fixed, staggered times, even when the owner is unable to feed it several times a day. This supports the horse’s welfare and ensures a predictable feeding pattern.
From my practical experience, I can say that offering small portions of roughage spread throughout the day fits well with what I consider to be healthy and natural for the horse.
